Apart from a pitlane dashing penalty, the #10 Acura of Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and Louis Deletraz had a seemingly comfy race till a collection of late restarts embroiled them in a battle with the #6 Porsche of Mathieu Jaminet, Nick Tandy and Dane Cameron.

Albuquerque and Jaminet have been battling for the win within the darkness once they got here throughout GTD site visitors within the closing minutes, they usually took one another out – with the second Penske Porsche of Felipe Nasr piling into the accident and taking out the highest three automobiles instantly.

In a race of fluctuating fortunes, the lead had ebbed and flowed within the early levels between the Cadillacs of Action Express Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing, and the Acura of WTR with Andretti Autosport for a lot of the occasion – with all placing some type of drama.

The #31 AXR automobile needed to bounce again from an early collision with an LMP3 automobile, which required a number of pitstops to repair the nostril part and left-side mirror. The #01 CGR entry suffered two spins, which handed the benefit to the WTR Acura.

Aitken stayed out to select up the lead with 32 minutes to go, forward of Jaminet – who beat Albuquerque out of the pits. Jaminet repeated his transfer from earlier, this time to take the lead from Aitken, whereas Albuquerque biffed Aitken large. Albuquerque, Nasr and Aitken ran three-wide to Turn 1, with Albuquerque forcing his means into second.

Jaminet leapt forward by 1.2 seconds however because the leaders hit a knot of site visitors, the delayed Jaminet and Albuquerque collided, with the WTR automobile slamming into the barrier on the within and rejoining the monitor, uncontrolled, on the inside Turn 3, ramming Jaminet who was concurrently colliding with a GTD automobile. Nasr then arrived and slammed into Albuquerque and Jaminet, flying excessive of his team-mate. All drivers have been unharmed.
