George Santos news: Pressure mounts on Kevin McCarthy as Santos financial discrepancies come to light

George Santos: The Congressional Imposter | On the ground

George Santos filed an amended financial disclosure form with the FEC on Tuesday, and within minutes journalists and election law experts noticed some pretty glaring problems.

For starters, there are two loans — for $500,000 and $125,000 — that are no longer identified as coming from Mr. Santos’ personal funds, as they used to be.

And then there’s the oddly high number of donations just below the $200 limit – an event that immediately raised questions about their legitimacy.

Meanwhile, GOP Leader McCarthy is clearly tired of questions about one of his newest caucus members. At a news conference on Tuesday, the speaker claimed the congressman would be ousted if the House Ethics Committee found he had broken the law, while lashing out at reporters who told him off. suggested doing more as House Leader.

“If somehow we go through ethics and he broke the law, we will fire him,” he said.

“The American public in his district voted for him. He has a responsibility to stand up for what they voted for, to work and make their voices heard here, but at any time, if it reaches a legal level, then we will deal with it.

His comments come as Mr Santos said he was ‘saddened’ to learn fellow GOP member John Kennedy called him ‘crazy as fruitcake’ and a ‘rabbit boiler’ – a reference to Glenn Close’s unhinged psychotic character in the 1987 film. Fatal attraction.

Kevin McCarthy leaves open the possibility of Santos being sent off

Embattled New York Republican George Santos’ time in Congress may prove short-lived after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy raised his potential impeachment.

George Santos now claims he survived an assassination attempt

Embattled GOP Rep. George Santos has now come under scrutiny for claiming he survived an unidentified assassination attempt.

The Republican, who has previously admitted to lying several times during his run for Congress, made the wild allegation during an interview with Brazilian podcast “Rádio Novelo Apresenta” last month.

“We have already had an attempt on my life, an assassination attempt, a threatening letter, having had to have the police – a police escort in front of our house,” he claimed.

Mr. Santos did not give details of the alleged plot and would not have mentioned it publicly before. During the interview, he also claimed that he was attacked on Fifth Avenue in New York and that his Florida home was vandalized.

ICYMI: More images of George Santos on the surfaces of the drag show

The PatriotTakes Twitter account, run by political activists aligned with the Democratic Party, surfaced another Brazilian news clip revealing George Santos dancing with other drag queens. He denied having participated much in the culture.

It’s unclear where the clip came from, but Mr. Santos can be seen wearing the same suit he wore in the original photos provided to TMZ and other news outlets by a drag queen who knew him from the time, Eula Rochard.

Drag artist claims George Santos was liberal in Brazil but went crazy when he moved to the US

A Brazilian drag artist who knew George Santos when he lived in the country has revealed more about the congressman’s political past in a new interview with Initiated.

Eula Rochard explained in her last interview that Mr Santos had once been a proud supporter of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva – the current president of Brazil, who recently returned to office after successfully battling corruption charges, according to he and his followers were politically motivated.

Support for Lula and his story as a drag performer would be politically meaningless if it weren’t for the current conservative right-wing fixation on drag shows, drag performers, and all of LGBT America.

George Santos says he’s not lying about contracting Covid

It seems like such a minor issue compared to the long list of outright embellishments and fabrications that George Santos concocted during his political career, but the congressman was able to prove that one of his many claims now questioned about himself was true.

It’s true: George Santos was truly one of the first Americans to be hospitalized with Covid-19 in March 2020, while living in New York City. Or, at least, it seems that he was.

The congressman provided several photos of himself in a hospital bed in some sort of isolation area as well as footage of a positive Covid test to DC-based insider news blog Semafor. The test dates and metadata matched March 2020, according to the news site.

It would mean Mr Santos was hospitalized following the very first wave of Covid hitting the city – by no means a significant achievement. On the contrary, the story shows how it became newsworthy when the New York Republican actually speaks the truth, given the rarity of what happens.

George Santos ‘saddened’ after Republican senator calls him a ‘nutty fruitcake bunny boiler’

Embattled New York Republican George Santos is ‘saddened’ that fellow party member John Kennedy called him ‘crazy as fruitcake’ and a ‘rabbit boiler’ – a reference to the unhinged psychotic persona of Glenn Close in the 1987 film Fatal attraction.

Mr Santos responded to the Louisiana Republican’s comments on Tuesday. “I am saddened that a distinguished GOP senator, whom I respected, used such derogatory language against me,” he said.

“Language like that is hurtful and divisive, and has no place in Congress,” he added.
