A man from Illinois has been charged with stabbing a 14-year-old Oakland County girl who refused to have sex with him.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 4th, when the girl met the man, later identified as 24-year-old David Anthony Dawkins, at a park in Pontiac, Michigan. Dawkins allegedly stabbed the girl multiple times after she refused to have sex with him. The girl was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.
Dawkins was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He is currently being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $1 million bond.
This is not the first time Dawkins has been accused of a violent crime. In 2017, he was arrested in Chicago for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times. He was later found not guilty by reason of insanity and was sent to a mental health facility.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They are also asking parents to talk to their children about the dangers of meeting strangers online.
This is a tragic incident that highlights the need for parents to be more vigilant about their children’s online activities. It is important for parents to monitor their children’s online interactions and to remind them to never meet someone they don’t know in person.
