Julian Sands: Family thanks California authorities for ‘heroic’ search

On Monday, the family of actor Julian Sands thanked California authorities for their “heroic” search for the missing British actor. Sands, who is best known for his roles in “The Killing Fields” and “A Room with a View”, was reported missing on Saturday after a hike in the Los Padres National Forest in California.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office launched an extensive search operation, involving multiple agencies and dozens of personnel. Helicopters, drones, and search dogs were used in the search, which was described by the family as “heroic”.

The search was ultimately successful, and Sands was located on Sunday morning. He was reported to be in good health, and was able to make his own way out of the forest.

Sands’ family released a statement thanking the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for their “incredible efforts” in locating the actor. They also thanked the other agencies involved in the search, including the California Highway Patrol, the US Forest Service, the Los Padres National Forest, and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The family’s statement concluded, “We are immensely grateful for the heroic efforts of all involved. We are also thankful for the outpouring of love and support from Julian’s fans and friends around the world.”

Sands’ disappearance and subsequent rescue is a reminder of the importance of being prepared when embarking on a hike. It is essential to tell someone where you are going, and to bring the necessary supplies in case of an emergency.
